Agency Directors

The people that you work with when dealing with Bless This Child, Inc. are people you can feel comfortable with. All of the directors have dedicated their lives to children and families. The Executive Director, Regina Schauer was a Judge dealing with children’s issues for over 6 years and has been working with the children in Russia and the legal process of international adoption for over 11 years. You can feel comfortable that the legal process will be done correctly and that you will be able to relax and just enjoy your new family member.

 

Doris Slaton, Director of Child Placement, was an elementary school teacher for 32 years before joining Bless This Child, Inc. She has over 11 years of experience in performing home studies and helping families prepare for a new child to come into their home. This is in addition to her years of experience in guiding families and helping children as a teacher. She is absolutely wonderful at helping adoptive parents and assisting them throughout the adoption process. She now uses her teaching skills to educate parents in a patient, understanding and kind way through the international adoption process and to help them become prepared for a new child coming into their lives. Further if parents desire her help, it doesn’t end at the adoption date. As a teacher, Doris helped develop a program for children 0-3 years old which uses games and activities for parents (and siblings) to do with children to help children with developmental gains. She is available to help families in any way that she can both before and after the adoption.

 

Gwyn Slaton, Director of Finances, was a Superintendent of Public Schools for over 32 years before joining Bless This Child, Inc. He handled multi-million dollar school budgets and addressed all the other challenges of running a school system. We are very fortunate to have someone with such extensive experience overseeing the financial aspects of the adoption agency. Further, Gwyn has an extensive educational background in psychology and 32 years experience helping families facing all kinds of situations. Adoptive parents find he is someone they feel comfortable turning to should they need advice or assistance. He has devoted his life to creating situations where children can thrive, feel loved, and grow into wonderful adults. His love of children has now extended to helping the children and families involved in the international adoption process. He has been working with Bless This Child, Inc. helping these families adjust and do well for over 11 years now.

 

Tony Slaton, Director of Post Adoption and Re-adoption, joined the agency with over 6 years experience as a Judge dealing with children’s issues. Prior to becoming a Judge, he was a well-respected attorney in private practice. In addition, he even has experience serving our country as an officer in the military. He has handled both domestic and international adoption matters for families for years. Adoptive families state over and over to us that they love to work with him because of his professionalism, depth of knowledge, and also his sense of humor. You will find that he will patiently guide and assist you and you will feel comfortable working with him. You will also know your case is being handled professionally and that every single detail of the adoption is being carefully taken care of.
